Monster Beacons are a game feature that were first introduced in Gemcraft Chapter 0 (Gem of Eternity). It provides a variety of powers that aid monsters, such as speed boosts and healing.
They can be destroyed by gem bombs or gems in towers, depending on what game in the GemCraft Series is played.
Gemcraft Chapter 0
The original monster beacons can only be destroyed by grade 3+ gem bombs.
Types
- Shield: Gives all nearby monsters temporary invulnerability.
- Healer: Heals all nearby monsters.
- Tower Defier: Prevents towers from being built in an area around it.
- Trap Defier: Prevents traps from being built in an area around it.
Gemcraft Labyrinth
In Gemcraft Labyrinth, they can also be destroyed by gems in towers. All monster beacons in the same field have the same health.
Types

In Gemcraft Chapter 2, monster beacons can have varying health, armor, range and pulse reload time. Unlike in Gemcraft Labyrinth, they also give experience. In addition to starting on the field, beacons can appear during the fight in 2 ways:
- Enraging waves (with gem bomb summons): Every 5th summon will cause an additional beacon to spawn with that wave.
- Beacon mark: Monsters with a beacon mark (generally restricted to giants) will spawn a beacon somewhere on the field at random when killed.
Beacons can only appear if there's a non-path space left on the field.
Types
- Healer: Restores 5% of max HP to all monsters in range.
- Cleansing: Removes all ailments from all monsters in range.
- Haste: Increases speed by 10% for all monsters in range.
- Shield: Adds a layer of shield per pulse to all monsters in range.
- Protection: Reduces damage done by 75% to all adjacent beacons.
- Static: Prevents walls, towers and amplifiers from being built in an area around it.
- Discharging: Periodically temporarily unsockets all gems in range.
