Monsters in GC2 are different in a few key ways than previous games.  While the types remain the same as older versions, the monsters vary much more in GC2.

Monster Types[]

Waves[]

Reavers[]

Gc2WaveNormal Normal type monsters, reavers are average moving and average health. Reavers don't have any markings on the side of their wavestone.

Swarmlings[]

Gc2WaveSwarm Swarmlings are small monsters that are quick and numerous but have low health.

Giants[]

Gc2WaveGiant Large, slow-moving monsters with large health pools and more armor.

Flying Ones[]

Apparition[]

White ghost-like creature that flies over the level. Apparitions are harmless. When killed, they drop multiple shadow cores.

Specter[]

Specters are flying enemies like apparitions, but are black/pink and will steal gems. Kill these enemies at any cost. Luckily you can freeze Specters, thus allowing an easy kill. They will aim on the highest grade gem.

Shadow[]

Shadows are powerful flying enemies. When you pause the game, Shadows continue to move and act, but more slowly than when the game is unpaused. They have very high armor and a moderate health pool. Their abilities include:

  • summoning projectiles that drain mana from your orb
  • summoning swarmlings to the field
  • teleporting
  • increasing armor the longer it remains on the field
  • directly attacking your orb to drain mana or spell charge
  • buffing all monsters on the field (like a combination Health, Shield, and Speed Beacon)
  • healing itself for around a third of its health

Spire[]

Spires are giant monsters that charge directly towards your orb. They move very slowly and cannot be banished. They move through obstacles and destroy all walls nearby when killed. Also, they cannot be killed in one shot.

Other[]

Spawnling[]

Spawnlings are similar in appearance and attributes to swarmlings. They appear when attacking a Sleeping Hive, as well as when killing monsters with the "drops 3 spawnlings when killed" buff.

Monster Attributes[]

Gc2WavePossessed The way that monsters vary in GC2 is with randomly added attributes that make them much more fierce.  The names of the waves are based on the amount of added attributes rather than the type. The icons for the attributes appear at the top of the wavestone.

  1. Marked - One additional attribute
  2. Twisted - Two
  3. Possessed - Three
