Orblets were introduced in GemCraft Chapter 2: Chasing Shadows. They appear if you enable the Orblets battle trait or if you play in Iron Wizard mode. If a monster reaches your Orb of Presence when there are orblets attached to it, the monster won't be banished and instead it will pick up an orblet and try to carry it off the map. If the monster is then killed, the orblet falls to the ground and slowly moves back to the Orb to reattach itself, but it can still be picked up by another monster.

Gems can be set to target monsters carrying orblets.

In GemCraft Chapter 2: Chasing Shadows[]

In the regular game mode, orblets are enabled by the Orblets battle trait (unlocked by opening the wizard tower on field M5) and their number can range from 3 to 9. While attached, they give 1% mana bonus, but they give a 10% mana reduction if taken off the battlefield. The weight and rollback speed can be increased by talisman fragments. Heavier orblets slow down the monster carrying them.

In Iron Wizard Mode, orblets are called iron orblets. You start with 5 and their number increases by one for each Wizard Tower unlocked. Iron orblets are heavier than regular orblets, don't provide a mana bonus, and give a 2% reduction in mana gained if carried off the battlefield.

Achievements[]

The following achievements are related to orblets:

  • Avenged: Kill 15 monsters carrying orblets.
  • Ice Stand: Kill 5 frozen monsters carrying orblets.
  • Naked: Set "Orblets" trait to max and don't have any orblets on the field at the end.

In GemCraft: Frostborn Wrath[]

Orblets are provided by the Orb of Presence skill at a rate of 1 orblet per 5 levels of the skill. Orblets give a +1% mana bonus while attached. There is no mana reduction for lost orblets.

While trial fields have skills disabled and therefore the orblets are normally not present, some trial fields have the player start with a preset number of orblets.

The Exploding Orblets mod causes orblets to explode when the monster carrying them is killed, but the orblet is lost in the process.

Achievements[]

The following achievements are related to orblets:

  • Ice Stand: Kill 5 frozen monsters carrying orblets.
  • So Attached: Win a Trial battle without losing any orblets.
  • Put Those Down Now!: Have 10 orblets carried by monsters at the same time.
  • Bath Bomb: Kill 30 monsters with orblet explosions.
  • Avenged: Kill 15 monsters carrying orblets.

Trivia[]

Orblets might be inspired by the tower defense game Cursed Treasure in which you start with some gems in your base and must prevent enemies from carrying them off the battlefield in a similar manner to how orblets work.
